Let's all admit it...we're not too happy with how many hits we've gotten on our PS2's this year. It started off with a bang, but it has gone mainly downhill from the time of DOA2...the most recent hit being THPS 4, thats maybe one in 5 actually near-perfect must haves for this year..it's sad. Even my fanboy instincts can tell you that.
So, in wait for some good games, let's all wander back to the days of ole, and check out some must have PSone titles.

Final Fantasy VII--Quite possibly one of the greatest RPG's ever produced, FF7 puts you in the role of Cloud Strife, a "puppet" who took the place of someone to cover up for the government's bad mistakes. Who made these mistakes? None other than the great Sephiroth, who once worked for the mighty Shinra. Track him down before he ends the world once and for all.

Megaman 8: Collector's Edition--One of the greatest 16-bit looking titles on the PSone, this installment of the popular Megaman pits you on a forgotten island...stopping Dr. Wilie from taking all the energy from it! With the help of Rush, Roll, and a few other friends, you might have a chance to stop him.

Bushido Blade 2--Two words: Washing! Bushido Blade 2 takes place in the time of sword fights, highwaymen, and wannabe pimps. Not only that, but you can also be a gay guy with a gun! This game has it all, not to mention the amazing style of it (which was used once, never to be seen again). Squaresoft's other acclaimed and well-known series on the PSone; but sadly, only two of them were produced.

NFL Gameday '98--Gameday is quite possibly one of the best NHL series of games ever to be produced. Easy to handle, but hard to master, Gameday '98 has a mess to choose from; regular teams, to special teams, to even super bowl teams! All the stats are there, as well as useless (yet amazing) facts!
Though, the thing that makes Gameday '98 stand out from the rest is the cheerleaders. When you beat your friend in multiplayer, a cheerleader from your team cheers you on. Go team!

Ape Escape - Good god almighty, a superb platformer

Sleepers
Brave Fencer Musashi - Zelda ripoff, done tastefully
Vs. - Awesome 3d foghter running at 60 frames per second. A first on PSOne. The Quick framerate really adds to the fast gameplay.
MDK - Impresive Third-person shooter that graphically pushes the PSOne.
Time Crisis w/Guncon - Great arcade shooter, pick it up if you can mange to find it.

You also mentioned BS2. I love it.
