Default gaming laptops

How many of you play games on their laptops?
I dont feel comfortable on a laptop. Anyways, what specifications does a laptop require if it is intended for gaming?

Basically, if you're laptop specs pass the game's system requirements (video memory, minimum ram, HD space) you can play the game. Still, laptops aren't really built for games, you get less quality on audio and video and controls won't be so comfortable either.

I agree that there are laptops that have higher specs than what most games require as minimum requirements and I also played games with my laptop but I don’t play that long because like most laptops the main problem with it is overheating.

Until and unless the Laptop is a gaming Laptop, which not many manufacturers offer, sans alienware and Dell, they don't justify gaming. The basic problem that you face with Laptops is the keypad. The keys are just too sticky to game on them.

Thats the point. laptops are just not meant for gaming. All they can do is to act as a backup gaming device unless you are ready to shell out some serious amount of money.

I do play games on my laptop, though it was not really designed for as it is a business laptop (even though it was maxed out at the time of purchase). Nowadays, IMHO, the minimum for a laptop intended for gaming would be a 2GHz+ processor, 2GB RAM and an 8600GT. A "proper" gaming laptop should have an 8800 or 9800, preferably two!

The main reason laptops were made is for portability. So people can do their work in different locations. I guess it's okay for gaming, but the problem with laptops is that they get outdated pretty quickly. With the rapid technological advances today and also with games, its specs wouldn't keep up, along with the memory. I remember buying a laptop and then after 3 months, Core 2 Duo came out and I said, "Oh, well."
