It's a lot of fun. At first it looked very childish, but it's not. The controls are incredibly easy to learn, and battle is simple. Just a few tips. If you want to make a really good character, make a Fire/Dev or AR/Dev Blaster. Those being the primary and secondary powersets. Origin doesn't matter all that much, so don't be pressured to pick one type. The 3 body types are just for aesthetics as well, as far as I know.
When you hit level 6, 8, 10, or 12, grab a skill from 1 of the travel power power pools. Flight, Speed, Leaping, and Teleportation. Grab 1 of the skills in any category of your choice, then when you hit level 14 grab the 3rd skill in the pool, which would be Fly, Super Speed, Super Jump, and Teleport. It makes travelling a lot easier. Super Speed and Super Jump are regarded as the best because they're fast, but Fly is a lot of fun, and Teleport is the fastest but costs a lot of Endurance (Mana if you will) to use.
Other than that, just have fun. You can make any kind of character and enjoy it and do well in this game.
