Hardware/Data loss issue - Video Games Forum

On the 21st of April our host reported to the datacenter that there staff had installed wrong size hard drives then what our host had ordered. On the 22nd of April the main hard disk crashed without warning, the hosting staff consider this was due to the hard disk being too full, the hosting staff tried to do everything possible to get the data in a form of backup however since both hard disks on the server where the same size no backup of data could be taken, In order to get clients websites up and running as quickly as possible our host had to do a format and reinstall (os reload) the server, however due to this the Bluegoop.net staff was not contacted. We have lost all of data from Febuary 25, 2005 through April 21, 2005. I hope that we will be able to pick up the missing pieces and go on and not dwell on the past.

Also hacks will be added back on a daily basis due to my work schedule.

Ahh, the annual server crash/cleansweep. But this time we don't need to re-register!

I've gotta tell ya, I've had multiple domains for five years, and I've never had this happen to me. Not once have I lost data due to my host's incompetence.

You need a new host, man. These guys don't seem to know their asses from their elbows.

Yeah, this seems to happen at least once a year here. The only site that I frequent that's had a server crash like this is CloudChasers/XenGamers/MoDojo, and they haven't had a crash since September 2001.

well im doing the damn best I can considering how huge this fuckin site is, not to many host will take the risk to host a huge and mysql intensive site like this, and im not about to fork up $50 a month for some damn host to tell me to lower my fuckin resources. So there ya fuckin have it. I'll bring my dedicated server back online when I see fit.

my hands are tied at the moment, as soon as I get my memory sticks in and some rack rails, i'll bring my server online and away we go.

Well I hope everything works well on the new server. I own a site with a big SQL database and it is very hard to find a descent host to run these sort of sites. At least we did not lose everything, Well done Dave for bringing the site back up, We all know how busy you are
