So far so good Katy! - Tried various flights that usually freeze and haven't
had a single freeze. No negative impact whatever .

The mod can be found at:

http://www.synapse.gr/downloads/nv4loopfix.zip

and for general info, browsing around forums.nvidia.com and searching for
"nv4_disp" is a worthwhile effort.

Fingers still crossed but loosening <g>,

Vic

Now you need to hammer the motherboard manufacturer so that setting is
corrected in their BIOS/drivers... This is why I wait a bit before
adopting relatively new technology such as PCIex, thanks for finding
out the problems for me ;-) Enjoy!

Vic,

You may want to experiment with the Texture Bandwidth setting in FS9.CFG --
I believe 40 is MS default -- I'm at 80, some say 400. I had similar
problems as you (dump to desktop) caused by UTIL.DLL (microsoft library
code) -- this turned out to be the fault of a 3rd party add-on package (in
this case I think it was ActiveSky or FS Environment or possibly Flight1
727) -- check your Modules dir in FS9, you'll see a lot of 3rd party stuff
gets put there, some good, some not so good.

nVidia and ATI drivers are pretty stable for FS2004, they've long ago
covered the "issues"

Motherboard BIOS/Driver update is still a good idea regardless.

Rob.

Hi Rob -

I subscribe to the " if it ain't broke, don't fix it school". FS9 has been
stable for me since day one - very few problems. I've moved it to several
different systems with no problems. This system worked flawlessly UNTIL the
new video card. The last thing I'd want to do is fiddle with stable settings
that have no bearing on the issue. The card and driver were the issue.
Also, just FYI, you might want to browse around the nVIdia forum to find out
just how stable these drivers aren't for some folks.

Bottom line - haven't had a problem since I used the 'fix' - I can live with
that.

Best,
Vic
