i really don't like this reality show but then i still find myself watching it. i just don't know why. but then i think that the watchers will not benefit anything from this show. what are your thoughts?

I haven't seen one episode of this show. A bunch of people cooped up in a house? The concept just doesn't sound original or appealing.

right. people are chosen to stay inside the big brother's house for how many weeks. i don't know what's the basis of choosing the winner. and i think that this is really scripted.

They are named as reality shows but are quite far off from being real. Every single line is scripted and every move is choreographed. I prefer staying away from all these gimmicks. Big Brother, till date I am also not able to get the idea of as to on what basis the winner is selected ?????

I love Big Brother! It's one of my guilty pleasures. Aside from the Bigger Loser, it's the only reality TV show I can get into. It's not exactly scripted, but the producers to tamper with the game via the diary room. They also have competitions favor certain players over the others. They way the show works is they put 12 to 14 people in a house for 3 months. They are cut off from the outside world. They don't have tv, radio, internet, or any books besides the bible. Each week they play food competitions, a head of household competition and a power of veto competition. During the food comp, they play for food. LOL Some weeks they will all play together and other times they play as teams. If they lose a good comp, they have to eat nothing, but slop for the week. Slop is oatmeal like stuff. It doesn't taste good. The head of household holds the power for first part of the week. They nominate two people for eviction. One of those nominations can be vetoed by the winner of the Power of Veto comp. If the POV is used, the HOH has to nominate a different person. POV winner cannot be a replacement nominee. Each week a person is voted out and goes home. When it's down to 9 people. The people who are voted out go into a sequester house. When seven people have been sent to the SH, they have to decide who wins the game out the Final two players.

There are several different version all of the world. I'm not sure if they all work in a similar manner.

i think they work at the same manner. maybe if i can only watch other country's big brother show, i wold appreciate it. but then in our country, i just don't like it. the challenges and games are fun to watch but then i still don't consider it as a reality show.

Thanks Crys2101, I really was not aware of all this, actually I have never pursued it till now.It sounds interesting, lot of fan following is there for these shows. As I am not into TV watching much so I can't keep a track of these shows.

The fans of Big Brother are obsessed. Unless you watch the live feeds, it doesn't seem less like a reality show. Most of the edits of the show are horrible. For example, this past season there was an elderly guy on the show. If you only watched the CBS broadcast, you would think he's a nice old guy. While watching the feeds, you'd get a totally different impression of him. Many times they will piece together story lines from footage. To really enjoy the show, you have to watch the feeds, but most people don't have time for that. Honestly, I love the show, but when I had the feeds this summer I felt weird watching the people in house everyday. LOL
