I agree - Sean Connery and Daniel Craig are the better Bonds. No offense to Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, or Brosnan, but the problem with the series is that no effort was really made to keep the character consistent with the Ian Fleming vision of the MI6 agent with "the license to kill."
Even if we keep in mind that Bond, unlike Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, was more of a action-adventure hero and not so much a true representation of an intelligence agent, the series became more cartoonish with each change in leading man. Moore, though charming, was basically taking a lighthearted spin on the character. Dalton tried to take it back to the Connery style but he obviously wasn't happy with the role so it's hard to say what he'd have done had he not left after only two movies.
As for Brosnan, I never watched any of his. Maybe it was because after becoming a Tom Clancy fan I saw how silly the series was getting, but I can't fairly rate him until I see one of his.
Craig, who I did see in Casino Royale, is absolutely great. Hope he can stay on as Bond for at least a few more installments!
