Default Daniel Craig

Since Quantum of Solace comes out in the United States, tomorrow, I thought I'd start a discussion about the best actors who have played James Bond. The first is Sean Connery and then second would be Daniel Craig. I really like the toughness and edginess that he brings to the character.

I agree - Sean Connery and Daniel Craig are the better Bonds. No offense to Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, or Brosnan, but the problem with the series is that no effort was really made to keep the character consistent with the Ian Fleming vision of the MI6 agent with "the license to kill."

Even if we keep in mind that Bond, unlike Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, was more of a action-adventure hero and not so much a true representation of an intelligence agent, the series became more cartoonish with each change in leading man. Moore, though charming, was basically taking a lighthearted spin on the character. Dalton tried to take it back to the Connery style but he obviously wasn't happy with the role so it's hard to say what he'd have done had he not left after only two movies.

As for Brosnan, I never watched any of his. Maybe it was because after becoming a Tom Clancy fan I saw how silly the series was getting, but I can't fairly rate him until I see one of his.

Craig, who I did see in Casino Royale, is absolutely great. Hope he can stay on as Bond for at least a few more installments!

I also like all the Bonds till date all of them got looks and talent of acting. I would rate Sean Connery the best out of all......well not so close would be Daniel Craig. DC has a little wooden face-he doesn't emote well, that's what I feel.Otherwise he is SOMETHING.

Sean Connery for sure. Tim Dalton was ok. His Bond films started the more action oriented Bond films that matches today's pace of action flicks like this new Bond now. It's a trend I'm seeing in action films today. More action and more serious.

Fardreamer - you and I think alike. After Connery and Craig, I really liked Dalton in, "The Living Daylights". I thought he did a great job of bringing back the gritty James Bond character that was missing with Roger Moore. Moore brought too much lightheartedness to the character and I grew so bored that I didn't even watch his last few Bond movies.

To me, Sean Connery is the only James Bond. Nobody can play the man better than him, the original is always the best in my book.

To be frank i do not like Daniel craig. He is so serious in his character. But i find Brosnan and sean to be better bonds. I do not understand where the problem is for Daniel. Is it with the story or with the direction or with his acting? I am confused.

It could be that you are not used to a James Bond who isn't as dark as what has been portrayed in recent movies. In the Ian Fleming books, James Bond is more dark and brooding than what is often portrayed on screen. The first time I read one of the books, I was surprised by how really violent Bond is. That's what I like about Daniel Craig. He plays Bond closer to the books than anyone else except for Connery's early movies.

I have watched a ton of movies with Sean Connery in them. The man is a natural born actor that can make you forget your watching a movie with his characters.

Sorry but I feel that Brosnan is the best James bond. We all have our reason and I donít think that you can argue with that. I havenít watched the new movie yet but Iím judging on last Bond movie that Brosnan did.
